"I might have been born in a hovel but I am determined to travel with the wind and the stars" -Jacqueline Cochran.
Jacqueline Cochran grew up living in a small town she liked to call "Sawdust Road" with her mom, whom she later discovered was her biological aunt. Once she learned that she was not biologically part of the family, she was surprisingly thrilled. Taking this as a new opportunity, she decided to pursue her dreams that her "family" doubted.
"My heart began beating wildly. It wasn't fear, but excitement. I've never felt this way before, flying was in my blood and would be for the rest of my life." -Jacqueline Cochran, her first flying lesson.
Early on, Jacqueline began a cosmetic company. One day at a dinner party she met Floyd Odlum, her future husband. Telling him about her dream to sell cosmetics around the world, Floyd jokingly told her "Then you better get some wings". Taking that seriously, Jacqueline attended the Roosevelt Field Flying School where she earned her pilot license.
"I'm afraid that's not enough time, no one can earn a license in three weeks" -Husky Lewellyn to Jacqueline Cochran.
